Getting absolute (wallclock) times when analyzing a trace with Windows Performance Analyzer RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm analyzing an issue where I need to correlate events I see happening in a WPR trace with our application's logfiles.

How can I determine the absolute (wallclock) time when viewing the trace in WPA, given that this (localtime in HHMMSS.MMM format) is what our application writes to its logfiles?

  • FWIW, here's the answer I got from Microsoft Support:

WPA offers the timestamp of the trace in Trace -> System Configuration -> Traces -> Start Time (UTC and Local time), which corresponds to time zero (0 ms).
