Visual Studio 2019: SQLite for Universal Windows Platform "is not compatible ... RRS feed

  • Question

  • After installation of Visual Studio 2019 Community Edition I tried to add the extension SQLite for Universal Windows Platform. After download I got this error message:

The extension is not compatible with this version of Visual Studio. Installation may cause Visual Studio to be unstable. Do you want to continue?

So far, I didn't. What can I do? Ignore?

  • Hi Johannes aus Methler

    Welcome to the MSDN forum.

I could repro your issue and so do I, this extension seems not be compatibility with VS 2017 and VS 2019 both. But I tried to ignore this prompt and go on this installation, seems it is working fine actually. To deeply researching, it's a problem with the SQLite extension itself (many members have reported it, but sorry for that no one share a useful workaround to unlock it for now) and not Visual Studio. You can contact the developers of SQLite to ask if they will update their extension to be compatible with VS 2019. Here are the right place to report a suggestion: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=SQLiteDevelopmentTeam.SQLiteforUniversalWindowsPlatform&ssr=false#qna.

Meanwhile, you might be able to use SQLite from a NuGet package, but only if you see one that is compatible with your UWP application. More info please see : https://www.nuget.org/packages/sqlite-net-pcl and https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/data-access/sqlite-databases use a SQLite database in a UWP app.

    Sorry for this frustrating inconvenience.
