.NET Framework 4 compatibility for a COM component that loads a WPF control built with .NET 3.5 SP1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a COM component that loads a WPF control. The WPF control was built with the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and both the COM Component and WPF control install successfully on Windows 7, and the COM Component is registered successfully. On Windows 8, which has .NET Framework 4.0, when we install this COM component, along with the WPF control, both in an MSI, the MSI it tries to register the COM component, but fails with error code 0x8007045A, indicating that a DLL initialization failed. I tried to manually register the COM Component, using regsvr32, and it fails with the same error code.
