SQL Counters not working RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

To monitor the SQL performance, I used the perfmon counters.

But in one of my machine:

    With Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.4035.00 (X64)   Nov 24 2008 16:17:31   Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation  Enterprise Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 2) On Windows 2003 SP2

When tried to select the counteres found out, the counters were all in numeric.

Then by unloading reloading and restart of services got description in english.

But when I use windows counters, it works with no issues.

Where as when selected the SQL counters (like SQL SERVER:General Statastics..) and run.

There will be no activity recorded all though there are SQL activity on the server.

In Even log i found this error every time i start the capture from perfmon:

"The Open Procedure for service ".NETFramework" in DLL "C:\WINDOWS\system32\mscoree.dll" failed. Performance data for this service will not be available. The Status code returned is the first DWORD in the attached data."

Let me know any alternate way to capture the performance of SQL service.

    Any views on this.
