Cannot Install .NET 3.51 RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hello...!!!

    I'm unable to install .NET Framework 3.5 (Install_file: "dotnetfx35.exe").

At first I upgraded Windows Installer (from 4.0.6001.0 to 4.5.6001.22162) and rebooted.

But I got the same message in the error register:

[05/16/09,12:42:17] Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0SP1 (CBS): [2] Error: Installation failed for component Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0SP1 (CBS). MSI returned error code -2146762496
[05/16/09,12:42:48] WapUI: [2] DepCheck indicates Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0SP1 (CBS) is not installed.

This is the vslogs.cab file:  http://cid-650a92094f25fd98.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/vslogs.cab

I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium SP1

Thanks in advance for any help provided...!!!

    Regards

  • Hi.

Can you please try the following steps to see if it resolves your issue:

    1. Uninstall any existing framework versions using the cleanup tool (Instructions at http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8904493.aspx)

    2. Restart the computer

    3. Use the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to clean up the MSI database state for all the versions of the .NET Framework.
    1. Download the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center:

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility package now. (http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe)
    2. Install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility as an administrator or as a user account that is a member of the local Administrators group.
    3. Click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Windows Install Cleanup.
    4. In the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, remove all Windows Installer applications for the .NET Framework.

    4. Restart the computer.
    5. Install .Net 3.5 again.

Please share your log files again if the above steps do not help.

    Thanks,
    Kanchan
