Visual Studio on Server 2012 Core RRS feed

  • Can we install Visual Studio on Windows Server 2012 Core installation?

    I did not find any specific info related to server core in Visual Studio documentation.

    I also cannot find any document about this server core edition

    I can only find the following:

    Hence I don't recommend you try to install Visual Studio on Windows Server 2012 Core. If you insist on doing this, please use a VM to test whether the installation will cause errors.

  • Windows Core doesn't even have a GUI, so of course the answer is no.

    yes you can. Although many functionalities simply won't work as IE is expected to be found while this cannot be installed in Core mode. You might still be able to build application only relying upon MSBuild but it looks like not all versions of .NET are fully supported in Core mode. Please have a look at my thread and let me know whether you find something out:
