Adoption and Language Translation for VB.NET RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Forums,

I am attempting to find resources of information in regards to the adoption of- and the language translation for VB.NET.  Specifically, I need what countries VB.NET was adopted into AND what languages it has been translated to.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

  • Hi,

Not sure to fully understand. VB.NET "the programming language" is not translated (i.e. you'll always have the same english based statements regarless of the country). My understanding would be that you are talking either about localized version of the Visual Studio (or Visual Basic Express ?) Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and/or perhaps about .NET Framework language packs ???

You may want to explain your overall goal so that we can better understand your needs (i.e. a market share by country ? I doubt you'll find this, MS could perhaps provide downloads by country but I don't think to have ever come accross that)...

If you meant the VB Express IDE, you could try http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/en-us/products/2010-editions/visual-basic-express and see the available languages (10 and I'm unable to recognize some of them)

Please always mark whatever response solved your issue so that the thread is properly marked as "Answered".

  • The assignment reads:

I would like for you to write a short (1-2) page paper on the adoption of Visual Basic.NET 2005 around the world. Tell what countries VB.NET is available in and the languages that Microsoft has translated VB.NET into.

    Thanks!

  • So my guess is that is the VB.NET IDE not the VB.NET programming language. So see above (10 languages).

For the by country adoption not sure what to tell. The only thing I could see if the number of downloads per country is available from MS but I doubt you'll find this.
