Problem - start programming-kinect with Visual Studio 2008 (c++) RRS feed

  • Question

  • i got a problem to start programming in visual studio 2008. i used the code from the skeletal program (c++/unmanaged) but it doesnt compile.. there are some strange errors in the MSR_NuiApi.h like casting to int is not possible.. it occurs only in line91. i dont understand it.. is visual studio 2008 the problem? i dont think so, but i dont know..i included the lib/inc directory in the tools/../VC++ Directory option. what should i do?

  • It's possible. So only reason why it does not compile is a "static assert" that is not supported by the VS 2008 compiler. This should make it work:

    #if _MSC_VER <= 1500
    #define static_assert(e, msg)
    #endif
    #include "NuiApi.h"

  • Only Visual Studio 2010 editions are supported for developing against the Kinect For Windows SDK 1.0. The Kinect components depend on the Visual C++ 10.0 C runtime library which makes programming against VC++ 2008 incompatible.

    You can download the Visual Studio Expression editions for free.
