Kinect Studio - Does it lower the FPS or is this just a PC performance issue? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I used both the Kinect v2 configuration verifier and the Depth Basics D2D to check this and it seems that using Kinect Studio decreases the frame rate by half. (From 30fps to 15 fps on average.)

Is this something that happens when using the Kinect Studio, since this application uses resources as well or is the PC just not powerful enough?

The USB Controller part of the configuration verifier gives this result:

Unknown USB port detected. Your USB configuration may support Kinect for Windows. I'm able to get the Depth, IR, Color, Body and Body Index streams without a problem so I'm guessing this isn't something I should be worried about.

    PC info/specs:

Processor: AMD A4-5300B APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics (2 CPUs), ~3.4GHz

    RAM: 8192MB

    OS: Windows 10

I'm just concerned about how this affects the frame rate I get when extracting samples from different types of streams and writing them to file.
