Referencing multiple tables in a form RRS feed

  • Question

  • I apologise if my question is vague or if I use the wrong terms. I've only been learning VB.Net for 3 weeks. I tried to search for results but I had no luck.

I have a project with a Supplier table and a Delivery table.

I have a form which captures Supplier Deliveries.

The Delivery table has a foreign key SupplierNum which references the Supplier table.

I need to create a form to enter deliveries, it will include DeliveryNum, SupplierNum and Weight. How do create a link to the SupplierName and SupplierNum fields of the Supplier table in the Delivery entry table. I need these fields to appear in a combobox to allow the user to select the appropriate supplier for each delivery and then have these values saved in the Delivery Table.

Is this what is known as a combobox lookup?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Bradshaw,

Check out the MSDN VB videos at:   http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vbasic/bb466226.aspx  Look at the series Forms over data.

    It should prove very helpful.

    I hope it helps,

    John.
