C++ XAML Control Libraries?

    General discussion

  • Im looking for any third party libraries of XAML controls for use in a winRT C++ project. I see some libraries like http://www.syncfusion.com/products/winrt/controls. They look very nice but are all written in C#. If I understand correctly, we can still use these controls in a C++ project but that binds us to the CLR for just a UI control which sounds like something I should avoid. Are there any native libraries out there? Or, is there really no concern with using a C# lib? Thanks.

  • You should evaluate a trial to see if there is any noticeable performance difference. While native controls should technically be faster than .NET written ones, at the UI level you may not notice much of a difference.

    That said, I personally find it surprising that major 3rd party vendors continue to use C# to write WinRT controls when they can easily do it in C++ and avoid CLR dependencies.
