  • Question

  • I followed you help explicitly. It needs some work.
This is an SSRS issue when using DateAdd only with the SSRS 'Today' operator.
Your help does not say you can not use the Today property in a SSRS 'testbox''s value property.

In this excerise a developer attempts to add 7 days to the Today date value in SSRS.
Step 1 - Upon initial failures look for msdn help on dateadd.
    MSDN Help:

    DATEADD(DAY, 365, Sell End Date)
Returns a sell end date for each instance that is 365 days from the original sell end date. For example,
if the original sell end date is 12/18/2009, the result is 12/18/2010.

From this the developer applies the knowlege learned.

I tried two approaches. Make the setting change and build the report.
I show for each attempt the setting and the build error.

     1st Attempt

     Setting using MSDN Help: =DateAdd(Day,7,Today)

     SSRS Response when Building :
Error 1 [rsCompilerErrorInExpression] The Value expression for the textbox ‘textbox9’
contains an error: [BC30455] Argument not specified for parameter 'DateValue'
of 'Public Function Day(DateValue As Date) As Integer'. d:\sandbox\cosmosfridayopenrfc\cosmosfridayopenrfc\Change
    needing Updating.rdl 0 0

      2nd Attempt

=DateAdd(Day,7,Today()) (Thinking Today is a function)

Error 1 [rsCompilerErrorInExpression] The Value expression for the textbox ‘textbox9’ contains an error:
[BC30455] Argument not specified for parameter 'DateValue' of 'Public Function Day(DateValue As Date) As Integer'.
      d:\sandbox\cosmosfridayopenrfc\cosmosfridayopenrfc\Change Requests needing Updating.rdl 0 0

I don't believe there is a case sensitivy issue in all of this.
