Can't choose Resource Group region RRS feed

  • Question

  • Following my discussion with David Ebbo on twitter (https://twitter.com/luisrudge/status/583644615716265984), I want to know why all my resource groups are created  with the South Central US region, even though my web app (and first resource item) is being created on Brazil South region.

    creating resource group

    wrong region

    Thanks!

  • Hi Luis,

Resource Group is still in preview and is not available to Brazil South region Datacenter. Resource group is being created in the nearest region for Brazil South. So you have to wait until it is generally available.

your service easydevio.azurewebsites.net is hosted in Brazil South request you to have it checked. Whereas the resource group- easydevio though you have selected it to be in Brazil south it is ending up in South central US. I was able to reproduce this issue and found as mentioned.

here is my service being hosted in Brazil South but my resource group-Brazil  in South central US.

  • Here is the deal: Resource Groups are now GA, and are available in Brazil, BUT the portal has not been properly updated to reflect this, so it's still moving the RG creation to a different region. The Portal team was made aware of the issue, and will be addressing it.

In the meantime, the simplest workaround is to use https://resources.azure.com/ to create the RG in Brazil, and then go back to the Portal for the rest, choosing that RG.

  • We have deployed the portal fix to production now. So you should be able to create an RG in Brazil via the portal.

    Thanks for reporting this issue.
