  • A few steps to try...

    • Completely uninstall Small Basic.
    • Completely uninstall the .NET Framework.
    • Download and install the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1.
    • Download and install Small Basic 1.0.

    Thanks!

Also check for viruses with a good scanner and run CHKDSK. Setup.exe failing would more point to something like infection or disk corruption since the installer does not run on the .NET Framework or rely on SB. Also, as Mr. Price pointed out, re-downloading .NET 3.5 SP1 is a good thought since the installer could be corrupted (although it runs a self-checksum (as far as I know), it is worth a shot).

  • Do you have administrator right ?
On which system are you running ?
Have you already any .NET Framework installed ?
What was doing the setup just before the crash ?
Have you any anti-malware / anti-virus that can cause some problems ? Have you tried disabling theses ?
    Is your system up-to-date ?

Anyway, you should ask a more specialised forum for this question, because I think nobody is here an expert in .NET Framework installation.
