My project is in ASP.NET 2.0 (VS-2005), but database is SQL Server 2008 R2 Express with Advanced Services. I want to use SSRS and want to know whether I can access SQL Server 2008 R2 reports via VS-2005?

Yes you can, you will need to use ReportViewer 2010, so you will need to download and install that first. It has the necessary schema upgrade for usage with SQL Server 2008+. You CANNOT edit or create reports in the 2008 schema for ReportViewer 2010 in VS 2005 though. That designer is only for VS 2010. I would get around that by just downloading and using Visual Web Developer 2010 Express for your report design needs if you can't afford VS 2010.

ReportViewer 2010 to be able use the reports with SQL Server 2008 R2 in your ASP.NET web app.

Then in order to build the reports you can either use SQL Server's tools that it came installed with for it, or you can use VS 2010, and if you do not have that, then use Visual Web Developer 2010 Express.

But my project is in VS-2005. How will I be able to open reports if I use VS-2010?

    you are missing the point.

You want to use SQL Server 2008. You will need to use RDL 2008 Schema for that, which ONLY VS 2010 supports. You CANNOT create reports using the report designer in VS 2005 that are intended to be written in the RDL 2008 Schema.

You will be able to use them in VS 2005 and reference them, but you will not be able to modify or create them. You will need some version of VS 2010 for that if you want to use RDL 2008 schema. Otherwise you will need to use RDL 2005 and ReportViewer 2008.
