  • Question

  • when i deploy a smart contract to my consortium network in azure blockchain, the block that got mined has block number 36153! Why such a huge number? I just created my blockchain network, the number should be 1 or 2, how come 36153?

  • Hello jatinsw1,

Thank you for joining MSDN and ask here.

I noticed you asked the same on StackOverflow [adding for reference]

I am researching internally on this, please let me know if you are having any issues or seeing errors because of that?

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

    Thanks for using Blokchain Workbench!

When you deployed Workbench, did you bring your own Blockchain endpoint or let Workbench create one for you?

If you are not bringing your own Blockchain endpoint, Workbench will create one instance of Azure Blockchain Service as the underlying Blockchain consortium resource.  As configured, the Blockchain will generate block at least every 5 seconds even no contract/transaction is deployed.

Let us know if you have any further questions!
