Azure Mobile Service - Import table data RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have an existing SQL Azure databases, I want to use same data in my Windows8 app.

As I understand Azure Mobile service can be used and it is really easy, but when I create new table in Azure mobile service it creates new table in existing database and doesn't use exiting table.

Now is there any mechanism to import data in Azure mobile service table?

  • Hi Josh,

    Thanks for your prompt reply.

If I moved my existing table schema to schema created by Mobile services, then existing applications will break. If I do below mention steps will it work

      • I will create new schema
      • Create same set of tables
      • Import data from old schema to new schema.
      • Create mobile service with new schema name.

Only thing is I have to maintain two different set of tables. I hope MS Azure team looks into this and will make some improvements.

  • Hi Harit,

If you move your existing table to the schema created by Mobile Services (with your apps name) then we should reuse your existing table. Note that one key constraint is that your primary key must have be named 'id' and be of type int or bigint.
