How to save the grayscale depth image of the kinect (c++)? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am working with kinect SDK v1.8. I want to save the grayscale depth map of each frame without false colors. How to do this?

Also, the depth camera and the RGB camera do not captured the same area, so I would like to know how to align RGB and depth image.

    Thank you

  • depth data is not an image but an array of pixels values representing depth. You can save that in any format as long as you know how to load it back and interpret the data. There are other threads you can search in the forum, that discuss ways of saving data using .net or c++.

As for aligning depth to color, use the coordinate mapping functions. There is a coordinate mapper sample in the toolkit that shows how you can map between camera spaces.
