Visual Studio issues causes by HDD failure

  • Hi,

    I recently had a HDD fail on me. This drive contained a lot of my Visual Studio folders, including my IIS config folder and CurrentSettings.vssettings.

    Since the failure I cannot get Visual Studio to work properly. I cannot create projects, as IIS is stuffed (for lack of a better word).

    I've uninstalled/reinstalled IIS and Visual Studio.

    I've run devenv.exe /resetsettings.

    None of these resolve the issues.

    If I try to create an MVC application I get this helpful message;

    Microsoft Visual Studio
    Unspecified error (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004005 (E_FAIL))
