Pausing video capture in Metro RRS feed

  • Question

  • The MediaCapture class does not support pausing (at least directly). For audio capture I've been told the WASAPI allows for more programmatic control that could support pausing... is there an API I can utilize in a Metro app that would allow for pausing of video capture?

Also, I've been wondering about the CustomSink options related to MediaCapture... I'm not extremely familiar with creating a custom sink for media capturing... they couldn't be used to discard incoming bits to simulate a pause in capturing of audio or video... could they?

  • Hello,

As far as I know, there is no way to capture video in metro.

  • Well, capture of video and audio in general is definitely supported in metro (see the code samples for MediaCapture and CameraCaptureUI for working examples). Perhaps you were thinking of a specific feature or functionality that is missing? I don't have a problem capturing, just pausing =)
