Running x86 programs under Windows Embedded Compact 7? RRS feed

  • Hello,

    i ve two questions about Windows Embedded Compact 7:

    Is it possible executing normal x86 programs (win7)

    - with an arm cpu under wec7?

    - with an x86 cpu under wec7?

    thanks a lot, sorry for the stupid question.

  • You need to cross compile your win7 program for arm using sdk to excute it on arm based device

    similarly for x86 it needs to be compiled with sdk

    The API's for Win7 is not entirely supported in WEC7.

    But before that you need to tell what kind of application it is, what framework it is using and the langauge.

  • I agree with Misbah, but I want to emphisize that the answer to both of your question is NO.

    It is not possible to run an x86 app that was compiled for another OS on WEC7 (any CPU) unless you first take the source code and re-compile for WEC7 and the correct CPU.
