How do I get the System.Drawing.Bitmap class? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I need the System.Drawing.Bitmap class from the System.Drawing.dll assembly for my Windows Store App project. I cannot seem to find the assembly or namespace in the references, so I am not sure how I am supposed to add it. Can somebody help me figure out how to add it? Thanks.

  • You will need to use a library which supports Windows Store apps rather than one which depends on System.Drawing.

  • System.Drawing is not available to Windows Store apps. See .NET for Windows Store apps overview .

I suspect you want a WriteableBitmap, but if you'll tell us your goal we can provide more specific guidance.

  • My goal is to us it in .NET barcode reading classes I downloaded from:

    http://www.onbarcode.com/products/net_barcode_reader/barcodes/qrcode.html

Because some of the functions use Bitmap as the type for some parameters, I need to be able to create and/or convert some of my variables to Bitmaps. I am able to create WriteableBitmaps with no problem, unfortunately, since I am passing the values to functions that I cannot change, I am stuck with using Bitmaps. Any ideas?
