Refresh Lookup column: Additional fields RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I have a list containing some fields. I have created a lookup to that list, with some additional columns to show.

Now I have created a new column in that list and I want to use it as additional column too. I can select it in my lookup "change column" page, but it doesn't show as an extra column in my list.

Is there any way to "refresh" the columns that are added ?

  • Hi ,

Based on my testing , some specific columns will not show up in the additional column field .These are :Multiple lines of text, choice, currency ,custom, Yes/No, Hyperlink and Picture ,Managed Metadata and custom columns  .So what kind of columns do you use as an additional column ?

As for the columns which have been deleted still show up ,have you perform a full crawl since then ? In addition ,when create a column in the site columns gallery and use it in a list .After deleting the column in the site columns gallery ,the column will still show  up in the list .Unless you delete it in the list level .

    Thanks,

  • Entan,

Thanks for your answer. I have no idea why this is not working. I am using a lookup field that has additional fields of type text and number, so nothing special there.

I cannot reproduce it on other sites, but it doesn't work in that specific site.If I create a new lookup field, I have no problem with the  additional fields.

    I will close this issue.

  • In my test (using SP1, normal list), it came out immediately after I added a new column to source list and adjusted the lookup in second list to show that new field. Are this a normal list or external? Do you have persistent proxy?

  • Hi,

It is a normal list. I also tested this out on a test environment and I got the field without any problems.

I am using the field as a site column in a site content type, but I don't think that is the problem ?

What I also noticed is that I still see fields in my view and SPD that have been deleted a long time ago. Perhaps the same issue ?

I will call around to check on the persistent proxy.

EDIT: I used a workaround with a variable with substring (to get rid of the looup-ID) and a link to the item in the other list. Still, it is a weird issue which I don't have in my other farm.
