why is "document" a word or phrase that is not allowed? RRS feed

  • Question

  • The other day I'm trying to create a service though the web site called "[CompanyName]-document" and just getting "failed" please try again later errors.

It was not until i used powershell did i get a respectful error message.

    [error]
New-AzureService : HTTP Status Code: BadRequest - HTTP Error Message: You have selected a word or phrase that is not allowed
    [/error]

So I'm playing hit and miss for about 30 min i got to these 2.

    “[CompanyName]-customerdoc” and “[CompanyName]-cusdocument”

    And only “[CompanyName]-customerdoc” worked.

So is this an error? or is it "document".supstring(2,3) that's causing the problem?

  • Windows Azure prohibits certain phrases to be used to name the services. Unfortunately there's no published list of banned phrases. I would say you're correct. I believe "cum" (as in document) is one of the banned word (http://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary/cum).

    Hope this helps.
