Mirroring in SQL server 2008 RRS feed

  • In a mirroring session in SQL Server 2008 can the principal database and mirror database be on the same server?

  • Principal database and mirror database are on same server is possible but instance for principal and mirror must be different with different endpoint.

    This kind of configuration helpful when only one server is available for SQL Server.

    if principal database is getting corrupted in that case we can easily fail-over to mirror server so system continuously up and running.

  • Its possible on same server if you install two instances but only problem is principal and mirror endpoint should be on different ports.
