Failover Cluster: mutliple Volume GUID pointing to the same Harddisk RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all!

I've been investigating this issue for quite some time. Recently I found out that on my test cluster system one of the disks has two volume GUIDs that are pointing to the same harddisk. This causes problems on my setup since mountvol and ClusterResourceControl(CLUSTER_RESOURCE_STORAGE_GET_DISK_INFO) return different GUIDs for the same volume:

Possible values for VolumeName along with current mount points are:

        \\?\Volume{2d6c59aa-e557-11e2-93f6-000c297875cc}\
            E:\

Wanted to attach a screenshot. But the system refuses the actions

The system has two volume GUIDs pointing to the same Harddrive. Is this a valid scenario on windows failover cluster? Can this be repaired and how.

Thanks for any help in advance,

    Lars
