Sharepoint 2010/SQL 2008 R2 standlone instance - getting 5586 and 6398 event errors RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a single install of Windows 2008 R2, Sharepoint 2010 and SQL 2008 R2 (CU 5 rollup). I am getting the following 5586 errors in the event log after installing and configuring my farm in SP:

Unknown SQL Exception 6005 occurred. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below. SHUTDOWN is in progress. Login failed for user 'xxxxxx\svcSPFarm'. A severe error occurred on the current command. The results, if any, should be discarded.

This is followed by 6398 errors :

The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.CrawlReportJobDefinition (ID ea0e70cf-9f9d-4bea-bb56-89ceef89371d) threw an exception. More information is included below. A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the pre-login handshake. (provider: SSL Provider, error: 0 - The handle specified is invalid)

I have verified the permissions on my SP farm account in SQL Server, changed the properties on my NIC to disable offloading and chimney (per several blogs) and turned on/off usage and health data collection in SP Central Administration while re-setting the timer service. I am about at my wits end trying to resolve these issues.
