When driver installation fails, why isn't the driver package removed from driver store? RRS feed

  • Question

  • My driver is failing at certain stage when installed using Device Manager.

But I can still see that INF and other files remain in driver store even if the installation has failed.

Is there any way that after installation fails, the co-installer can tell Windows to remove the driver package?

  • No the co-installer cannot force the remove of a driver package.

If you have an install program based on the DifxAPI's you can detect that the driver did not install correctly and remove the package.

Perhaps it can do this by scheduling a task.
