save image to a path with new name RRS feed

  • i have a form to register students the fields are not connecting to any table when i push a button

    all fields are cope to a 2 tables by rst command "add new" and printed to after manually fill

     now i need to put the student image on the form and when i click the button it well save at to a path in my hd

    with the name and last name that in the field

    (can't use a report)

    (i don't want to store the image in the db) after the click the form erase

  • ok what i did is create new table "tempimage" add failed as attachment file and on the form i put the attachment object so i can take the image from the camera and print

    Not sure I understand what you're asking. Will the user enter the path to the image, or did you want them to "browse" to it? If you want the user to browse to the image file, check out the FileDialog object.

  • for now the all process done by word when the image taking from the camera

    image control in MS Access doesn't support any drag and drop event.

    so you need to use open file dialog to load the image.

  • As I understand your post - I believe the practical solution is having a process that works within the features of the Access product.

    1. take picture of students - saving them with a unique ID (i.e. Name, Student #) into a folder - let's call that folder: StudentPics

    2. be sure the StudentPics folder is in a permanent location, as moving it will disrupt all your links

    3. In your database application - one must manually go to each student's record - and attach their pic.  There is more than 1 method available in Access for this - a hyperlink field type would be very suitable.  The attachment field type sounds more appealing but brings that image into the database which you state you do not wish to do, and I agree.
