How to check programmatically if Windows Server is TLS 1.2 enabled RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All,

There are few registry settings provided to enable/disable TLS 1.2 configuration. These registry keys are specified at the below links -

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/3135244/tls-1-2-support-for-microsoft-sql-server

    https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/sqlreleaseservices/tls-1-2-support-for-sql-server-2008-2008-r2-2012-and-2014/

My Application wants to take an action which is completely dependent on TLS 1.2 settings. I do not want to read the registry every time during application startup. Is there any other way or any Windows API exposed to determine whether TLS 1.2 enabled or not?

    Thanks,
    -Anuj

  • Hi AKGarg,

Windows provides function or method to get the content of registry, for example, we can use Get-ItemProperty in Powershell to get the related value:

    $val = Get-ItemProperty -Path hklm:SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols
    echo $val

    Best Regards,

    Teige
