I can't download fils or IE Active X or Add ons.

    Question

  • Hello. I'm user of Windows Developer Preview(Windows 8)

When I download files it said 'This file couldn't downloaded.'

And when I enter the site which needs new addons or Active X, it doesn't announce me that it needs to install new Active X.

    Please solve this problem.

    Thank you.

  • Have you installed any security software since you installed Windows Developer Preview?

If you are unsure what security software is being used currently you can check this by:

    • Enter the Start screen
    • Select Control Panel
    • Select More settings
    • Click Action Center
    • Click the drop down arrow to the right of Security

Then let us know what you see under Network firewall, Virus protection, and Spyware and unwanted software protection.

Look forward to hearing back from you.

  • Hi ,

Are you attempting to do this in Metro style IE or desktop IE?  Could you send some examples of what files you are trying to download ?  are the all applications?

  • Umm, all kind of IE. And I can't download all kinds of files(like exe file even apps!)

And also, I couldn't find a nofication which says that this website needs to install Active X or Add-ons.

I can't download all files. It just said "Couldn't download this file"

    Thanks.
