ADL Tools no longer available RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can I get a new link for ADL Tools?

    Current link no longer works.

What are steps to use msbuild in Visual Studio Online against USQL & Hive projects? Currently getting this error on build.

\Usql.targets(33,5): Error MSB4062: The "Microsoft.Cosmos.ScopeStudio.VsExtension.CompilerTask.USqlCompilerTask" task could not be loaded from the assembly Microsoft.Cosmos.ScopeStudio.VsExtension.CompilerTask. Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Cosmos.ScopeStudio.VsExtension.CompilerTask' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. Confirm that the <UsingTask> declaration is correct, that the assembly and all its dependencies are available, and that the task contains a public class that implements Microsoft.Build.Framework.ITask.

  • Dear Andrew

Thanks for reporting this. I have contacted the tools team to fix this.

I normally use the shortcut link http://aka.ms/adltoolsvs but that also leads to the same missing download page.

MSBuild is not supported at the moment.

For now, we offer a command line tool to build U-SQL scripts outside of the IDE.

User guide can be found here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/data-lake-analytics/data-lake-analytics-u-sql-sdk.

Please file a request at http://aka.ms/adlfeedback (or vote it up if it already exists).

  • It is now fixed and available via http://aka.ms/adltoolsvs. If you don't see it, please refresh your browser window.

The even better news is that this is now the new version 2.2.6000.0 that is aligned with the upcoming server refresh.

  • Thanks Michael.  I will build a Powershell script to compile these.  Goal is to setup VSTS CI build with this, so will I need to setup a VM to do a build instead of using the cloud option?

When I compile this script that contains USE mydb; statement and CREATE PROC.

c:\LocalrunSDK\LocalRunHelper.exe compile -DataRoot c:\LocalRunDataRoot -Script C:\temp\myusqlproc.usql -WorkDir c:\temp -UseDatabase mydb

    I get this

*** Error : (5,5) 'E_CSC_USER_DDLENTITYDOESNOTEXIST: Database 'mydb' does not exist.
No entity of the required type has the specified name.
Either check that the name is correct or create an entity with the specified name.'
    *** Compile failed !
    Execution failed !

The database exists locally.  Any suggestions here?  Submitting with LocalRunHelper works fine.  I use it for unit testing.
