Not enough memory to debug problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm using VS2010 on Windows 7 and trying to debug an MFC project. I have sucessfully built the application but when I try to start the debugger, it complains that there is "not enough memory" to load a dll that is related to the project. I have 4GB of memory, (2.99GB usuable as I'm on Windows 7 32bit) and only VS2010 open when trying to do this - there is over a gig of memory free.

Is this a known bug? How can I fix it/start debugging?

  • This error pops up for a host of reasons.  In your case it sounds like you should really have enough memory so I wonder if something is going in the loading of the DLL where the DLL itself is causing the problem?  For example, is the DLL trying to access something during loading or allocate it's own memory and perhaps there is a sizing problem there?  Or, is the DLL compiled as 64bit?
