getFileAsync in Powerpoint Online RRS feed

  • Question

  • According to https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/jj715284.aspx (section "Support Details"), getFileAsync (the function to read file content) is supported in Powerpoint Online and Powerpoint iPad. However it seems undefined right now ("Uncaught TypeError: Office.context.document.getFileAsync is not a function").

It works in Powerpoint 2013 desktop, and works for Word online, but not Powerpoint online (not sure about Poweproint on iPad). Anyone knows the status or roadmap of this function? Will it be coming to Powerpoint online/Powerpoint iPad?

  • Hi Hongnk,

The support detail for this link seems to be incorrect. This function doesn't support PowerPoint online at present. You can check the "Support History" section and the parameters description for FileType. And if you have any problem about the MSDN document, we can submit the feedback from button on the bottom of the page(Was this page helpful).

Whether the feature would support in the next version of Office add-ins depends on the requirement of end-users. If you have any ideas or feature request about Office add-ins, you can try contact the Office Developer Team via link below:
