Get current username works with form on MOSS, but not on WSS3 ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are making a form in Infopath form where we get the username from AD via one of the built in web services of Sharepoint.

    This works fine with Sharepoint 2007, but we have the issue with WSS3.0.

    any hints ?

    Thanks

  • The UserProfileService is not in WSS 3.0 - The service uses MOSS's Shared Service Provider to populate the info, which WSS 3.0 does not have an SSP.

    Which version of InfoPath are you using?  If you have InfoPath 2007 or 2010 you should have the "username()" function.  So, instead of calling the webservice, you can set your currentUser field to the username() function.  You won't get any other information from that, just username, but that sounds like what you're trying to accomplish.

  • As far as I know we use this webservice

    http:///_vti_bin/UserProfileService.asmx

    Does WSS provide this webservice aswell or might this be the cause ?

  • Thanks, by the way they tried to get the username from

    /_vti_bin/usergroup.asmx -> “GetUserInfo”

    but that did not work either. We decided to use the function "username()" as you suggested which brought exactly the result that we needed.

    Thanks anyway :)
