Android Emulator for Xamarin on Windows 7 Enterprise RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have installed the Visual Studio Community Version 2017 for my Windows 7 Enterprise computer. When i downloaded it i didn't get it to download all that i want, and so an error log was created with the installation. In the log we can see that the Google Emulator was not Installed along with the SDK. For the SDK i somehow managed to get that done but for the Emulator i can see that it can only run on Windows version 8 and up.

My question - how/what can i install that will act as an Emulator for my Android programs in Xamarin.

    Thanks!

    Abbas

  • Hi Abbas,

Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.

For VS 2017, please run the VS setup.exe, select continue->Modify>Individual components->Emulators tag->Visual Studio Emulator for Android, check it and update:

    Note:

Please make sure your machine meets the following system requirements

    • Hyper-V support

    • 6 GB or more of RAM.

    • 64-bit version of the Pro edition of Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows10 or higher

    • A processor that supports SSSE3 or later.

Please refer to: Visual Studio Emulator for Android, which is also applicable to VS 2017 RTM.

If the machine configuration doesn't meet them, the setup dialog will show as below:
