ApplicationViewState Deprecated in Windows 8.1

    Question

  • The statement

    ApplicationViewState visualState = ApplicationView::Value;

    got a warning "ApplicationViewState may be altered or unavailable fore release after Windows 8.1. Instead query for windows layout sizes directly."

    Any samples how to correct this?

Answers

  • in windows 8.1 there are no states anymore. the end user decide the width and can run multiple apps together.

    Looks at the Width and you can look at the orientation

  • in 8.1 it doesnt exist anymore. guideliness is to determine the viewstate for your application based on the window size.

  • This is not obvious. What is the algorithm? There are filled, snapped, and fullscreen in Windows 8.0.
