Send mail on button click or any other event RRS feed

  • Question

  • There is a requirement in my project is to send a mail on clicking of submit button to a set of users, I want to know if there is any such feature available in project server or I need to do coding for this.

It would work if I provide the faeture on any event , it is not necessarily to be on button.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Yes, It seems to be possible but with the code. I had the similar requirement which i completed with SPD email workflow. Created a scheduled job which checks the project current workflow state & send email to state approvers group.

  • I am not implemented it through work flow. I create a webpart having just only a button and done dotnet coding to send the email. It worked fine me. Does any expert see any implementation risk on this.

    Thanks

  • Vinay,

I have a question of submit button - do you mean that you have workflow and sumbitting projects to next stage?

if so - you can implement this in your workflow.

If you want to have a notifications on different events - you need to write event handlers that will do this job.

on this link - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg615466.aspx - you can find a sample how to write and register an event handler.
