BENQ DVD/RW Driver Missing During Installation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I previously installed a Beta version of Windows 7 without issue. I tried installing the RC version of Windows 7 this evening and the installation has stopped because I am using an unknown DVD drive. I am asked to provide a driver which I do not have. Windows 7 build 7000 worked OK. The DVD/RW was reported as "BENQ DVD DD DW1620 ATA Device" in the device manager.

"A required CD/DVD device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."

Do you have a 3rd party driver disk dor the DVDROM?  Have you tried going to the DVD-ROM (or PC) manufacturer to obtain the proper driver?  Is the hardware listed on WIn7's HCL (Hardware Compatibility List)?
