Does 120 pixels Left margin is mandatory for all windows store 8.1 apps?

    Question

  • Hi,

Does 120 pixels Left margin is mandatory for all windows store 8.1 apps?

I have seen  many apps in store which doesn't have a 120 left margin in a page.

But some people are mentioning that it is mandatory?

    any perfect suggestion please??

  • The guidelines on app layout still specify that the left margin of the Content Region is 6 units, or 120 pixels. For Windows 8.0 this was a requirement indeed, but since Windows 8.1 the same document starts with "You can use the layout pattern described here to lay out UI elements on your app pages.".

This article from Jerry Nixon made it official. Check the paragraphs on the "Windows Silhoutte".

  • This was never manditory, although it was definitely over-encouraged by some folks who misunderstood the difference.

The design guidelines are (and always have been) guidelines, not requirements. They are a good starting point for most apps, but if you have a compelling reason to diverge from them then do so.

You can find the certification requirements at App certification requirements for the Windows Store .
