Windows Sounds RRS feed

  • Question

  • Will the default sound scheme be updated with new sounds for Windows 8? Windows 7 is the first Windows version that I can remember where there was no change to the sounds at all, not even a new startup sound. Will these sounds be updated for Windows 8? For examples of sound schemes that changed between minor Windows releases, compare Windows 95 to Windows 98, or Windows 98 to Windows Millennium Edition. These upgrades were only minor changes, but they still had new startup sounds associated with them. Will there be a new sound scheme in Windows 8?

  • This is a developer preview, not even meant for the mainstream windows users.
See this as a pre-beta with basic features for us, developers, to use and be ahead of others when it comes to Metro UI.

In the beta / RTM / RC there might be new sounds. Anyway, if there will be, you won't get an official answer here.

  • I'd forgotten about this one. I have finally marked your reply as an answer, though.
