tabbing through controls on screen - tab order RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a screen with 5 columns accross and 6 rows down.

    e.g

    salutation, first name, surname, UID

st no, st name, suburbe, town, postcode

start date, end date, ???, ???,???

    etc

I want the data entry tabbing order to be accross the page but the default seems to be down the first column, then up to top of 2nd column etc

can the tab order be controlled to go accross page, or do I have to set my fields out down instead of accross?

    Thanks

    Grant

  • The only layout options that I could get to work are:

    rowlayout

    -table layout

    --table column layout

    see screen below

    design view is

I think I had to start with row layout as I have a tabbed controll below with multiple datagrid records in it.

cant seem to make columnslayout work in my situation

    Cheers

  • Yes of course if you use a RowsLayout with controls, the tab order will be down.

You need to use a ColumnsLayout control if you want data to be able to be "tabbed" across a screen (using the tab key).
