Query load balancer log analytics for requests RRS feed

  • Question

  • We setup log analytics for the load balancer. I'm trying to figure out how to query the data to see which requests are going to which VM. I checked the tables but nothing jumps out as being the right one.

It's probably really simple and I just keep overlooking it.

  • Actually, first you need to identify what all kind of data is comin to workspace. You can probably first run the query :-

    search * | distinct Type

This query will show you different type of data available in workspace.  If you find any interesting datatype then run the query for it. for example  found "Hearbeat" as interesting. Or if you find any data type for "Load Balancer" .

So, my next query would be

    Heartbeat

and on the left hand side there are option of filer. so, you can filter the data.

this page will help you in understanding the data :-

  • Hi,

I would assume you have configured Diagnostic logs to be send to Log Analytics:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/load-balancer/load-balancer-monitor-log#send-to-log-analytics-1

Assuming you want to see specific request going to different VMs there is no such data in the logs and metrics that Load Balancer service has.  From logs perspective you only have alert event and health probe logs: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/load-balancer/load-balancer-monitor-log#archive-to-storage-account-logs

What metrics are available you can see here:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/platform/metrics-supported#microsoftnetworkloadbalancers
