Visual Studio 2012 Debugger Simulator Crash on Windows 8 Apps RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,
My I am trying to develop applications for windows 8, but whenever I try to run the simulator in debug it crashes every time.
It is the same issue as 'issue 2' from this link ISSUE, I have followed the answers solution but I am still having the same problem. The error is "AccessViolationException was unhandled" in devenv.
    Any help would help.

    Thank you!

  • Hi Austin,

Thank you for posting in the MSDN forum.

Since this forum is to discuss the VS debugger tool, to narrow down this issue:

    1. If you create a simple app, and then debugging it, does it work well? If it worked normally, so we could make sure that it is not the VS issue. Use another computer to ensure the project is fine.
    2. Restart your PC, and re-open your VS, please close other processes, check the CPU usage while it is crashing, and make sure that the task manager is free.
    3. To make sure that whether it is related to the symbol loading, you could check the Module window.
    4.  If we copy the code to a new project, whether the VS crashes?
    5.  Delete that code line form this special project to see if VS run fine.
