Type initializer for <modulename> threw an exception RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to run my executable file (after installing the setup of my ERP) , the login screen appears and after taking the credentials of the user, hitting the OK button generates the following error :

Type initializer <module name> threw an exception...

When I debug  my project it works absolutely fine but after deploying to a client machine this error generates

    Some details:

    1) Project developed on .net framework 3.5 (using VB.net)

    2) Gives error on 64-Bit operating systems.

    3) Works fine if visual studio 2008 is installed on the client machine.

    Any help ?

    Regards,

  • Hi,

I found the solution actually one of my forms had the following declation :

Dim WithEvents dtcombo As New Microsoft.CLRAdmin.DataGridComboBoxColumnStyle

I removed the "New" keyword and it worked just fine.

Thanks for your suggestions and help.

  • You ned to publish your project and then install like any commercial bought software.  The build menu also has a publish option.  Publish to CD.  You don't have to put results on a CD.  You can put the results any place (like you hard drive).  The root folder of the publish will contain setup.exe.  move this root folder and subfolders to the computer that you are going to deploy the software.  Then execute setup.exe on the computer you want to run the software.
