Fresh Windows Server 2016 installation (in Hyper-V VM) has a non-deletable 'qaa-Latn' Language? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good afternoon,

I installed Windows Server 2016 Standard in a Hyper-V virtual machine (for development/testing purposes) and noticed one strange thing with it I have never seen before and even Google/Bing say -nothing- about: it has a Language selectable in the taskbar/language selector named 'qaa-Latn' - however this one doesn't show up anywhere else. Not in the old Control Panel's Regiona settings, nor in the newer, Windows-alike Region settings.. nowhere.

But it is there and after logging in, it is always set as the default language. No matter what I try and setting the English-US (with German Keyboard) combo as default (also administratively for all users/login/lock screen etc).. it does not go away.

Does anyone know WHY this this happening and more precisely, how I can actually delete it?
