Who has opend an addin RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

How can I find out who has a addin open in a shared envirionment.

We use an addin on a shared location and sometimes I have to adaped the code. However when someone has the file open I can not saved the file.

If I have a method to detect on what PC it is open I can ask to close the excel session.

  • Hi Jan212r,

The best way to prevent this in future is to make the add-in file read-only (from Explorer, file properties) before placing it in the central location. That way  you can just replace the file.

    Alternatively:

  • I guess you mean working with 2 files. One for editing and one for working in the production envirionment. and once finishing editing, copy the new file?

  • Hi Jan212r,

Of course, that is something you should always do.
