how to get notification when your MSDA goes down?

    Question

  • I have a few(<5)MSDA that talks to a custom device through a device driver. On desktops, when an application opened a handle to the driver, it created a file object and IoGetRequestorProcessId would return the process id of the app. With windows store applications, this API returns the runtime brokers process id. This causes problems when the MSDA crashes or is closed as the driver requires to do some clean up after the MSDA goes down.

On desktops, when the apps closed or crashed, the file object would close which allowed us to clean up based on process ID. Is there a way to get the process Id of the application instead of the runtime broker or is there any other way this can be achieved?
