Using a progress control with a promise RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am looking for what should be a pretty straightforward example - using a progress control with a promise. Specifically:

    1) Call a long running function

    2) Send the user to the hub page

    3) have a progress control there

    4) When the promise returns, turn off the progress bar and show the new content.

It seems pretty straightforward but I was hoping there would be a pattern that I could follow.

    Thanks!

  • Figuring it out wasn't so much my problem, but an established pattern is always useful.

I found what I was looking for in some of the advanced samples. There's some neat stuff in there!

  • Whenever you start the whole process you need to figure out some things, like for example...do you switch pages & have a usable event on that page to detect this change, do you have access to needed variables such as to show a slightly different layout(with progressbar) & do you know how to change it back to without the progressbar.

Since layouts are pretty customized to apps, you would need to show code of how it looks now, how you want it to show with progressbar & such & include events for completion & the like to get rid of the progressbar, etc... and continue with the rest of the process, such as taking you to the page that the new content is located on.

If you know how to work a progressbar in the first place, none of this should be hard for you to figure out.
