Word 2010 Mail Merge not working from Access 2010 RRS feed

  • Hi

    We are trying to open a mail merge document created in word 2010, from access 2010. The fields of mail merge are to be picked up from the underlying tables in access

    But at the time of opening of the document, the word is not picking up latest values from access tables.

    I have to click and do certain number of steps before the document is refreshed.

    Is there any method of enabling refresh on load of the document ?

    If you open a Word mail merge document using code (WordApp.Documents.Open) that action will unlink the data source from the document. This is a security measure and is by design. So your code will also need to attach the data source (Document.MailMerge.OpenDatasource).

    Word is tricky about the syntax for linking data sources, so it's usually a good idea to record a macro while linking to the data source manually in order to get the basic required syntax.
